When someone searches for “coffee near me” or “car service in my district”, Google shows a map with three businesses. Those three get the lion’s share of calls and directions. The good news: getting there is easier than reaching the top of regular search.
Step 1. Your Google business profile
Create or claim your Google Business Profile and fill it in 100%:
- the exact name, without stuffed keywords;
- the right primary category — the most important factor;
- address, phone, opening hours, website;
- services with descriptions and prices;
- at least 10–15 real photos.
Step 2. Reviews
The number, freshness and rating of reviews directly affect your position. Ask for a review right after the service — send a short link in a messenger. And always reply to every review, especially negative ones.
Step 3. A website with local pages
Google checks whether your profile matches your website. The website should have:
- the same name, address and phone number as the profile;
- separate service pages mentioning the city or district;
- an embedded map and LocalBusiness structured data;
- fast loading on mobile.
Step 4. Mentions on other websites
Add your business to city directories, industry listings, Apple Maps and other services. The details must be identical everywhere — down to the comma in the address.
Step 5. Regular activity
Post news and offers in your profile, add new photos, answer questions. Google shows active profiles more often.
How long until results
First changes appear 3–6 weeks after setup. In low-competition areas, the top 3 is realistic within 2–3 months. It’s one of the best investments for a local business: calls from maps are free.
